When we are in the practice of mindfulness there are other points to be considered in addition to the benefits. In this world of violence it is imperative to stress that while this practice is beneficial to all we need to be aware of people who are in desperate situations. Desperate situations create desperate people who under severe and intensive emotions may react violently. Moreover, this awareness is not only focused on ourselves but on these individuals who are suffering. Our heart and soul goes out towards people and we should help them when an opportunity presents itself. However, we need to love ourselves enough to avoid dangerous situations.
What does it mean to practice mindfulness? It means:
- that in every moment, you are acutely aware of what is going on in your environment. You pay attention to the people who are in your space.
- that you are listening for spirit to guide you and inspire you.
- that you are aware of all your senses and how they affect you throughout your day.
- that when you are present in your understanding of how positivity affects your body, mind, and spirit you can motivate others.
- that you can deflect negativity; process negativity into positivity all of which has been shown to reduce anxiety, depression and improve sleeping. This will also serve to raise your vibration.
- You don’t react to another person’s verbal assault. Respond with love, understanding and forgiveness, yet we need to be guarded to protect ourselves and our loved ones.
- that you have set your intention for the day to be at peace.
- that when you have processed any negativity then let it go and move forward in life. By letting go it will free your mind.
- that you are allowing life to flow naturally. You realize you don’t need to hold on to memories that are painful. There is no need to hold on to things or situations that no longer serve you; no need to attempt to control your life.. You let go to free your spirit.
- You are no longer resisting change. Change is good for the soul. Let it be.
Here is a technique for beginners learning to practice mindfulness. One way is to use the STOP acronym. This was taken directly from: https://psychcentral.com/health/4-quick-mindfulness-techniques#
S = stop
T= take a breath
O = observe
P = proceed
The most important thing about practicing mindfulness using the STOP technique is that this method can be used at any time in every situation especially if you are particularly stressed, upset, or angry. Furthermore, by stopping any activity you are doing that is upsetting you, this allows you time to breathe and to evaluate the situation. In addition, by breathing deeply, slowly and consciously being aware of your breath, you will feel your body relax and with practice anxiety will dissipate. Then let it go and proceed along with your day.
Hey Warriors! I have one final thought for you. One of the most important points to consider is that in this world of free will, we all have a choice in life at every crossroad. We can choose to interact with negative people, or we can walk away from them. Don’t allow another person to rob you of your joy. We can choose to be miserable, or we choose to be happy. Choose Happiness!
